Washington Huskies Match Highest-Ever Graduation Success Rate

SEATTLE – Student-athletes at the University of Washington continue to excel in the classroom, as the Huskies matched their highest-ever Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in department history in the NCAA’s most recent GSR release. The UW posted a 91, tying last year’s mark which measures the four-year cohort that includes classes from 2010-2013. 
 
“I continue to be so inspired by the amazing academic achievements by our students,” said Director of Athletics, Jennifer Cohen. “Matching our highest-ever score shows the unwavering commitment that our students, coaches and staff have to excelling in the classroom here at the University of Washington. I’d like to give special acknowledgement to Kim Durand and her staff for the tremendous work they do leading our student-athlete academic services and supporting the culture our coaches have built for academic excellence.”

 
The following seven programs posted the top GSR score in the Pac-12: women’s golf, women’s soccer, women’s tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, and men’s tennis & men’s golf. All seven programs posted a score of 100. Women’s golf has recorded a perfect score each of the years since the GSR’s launch in 1998.

ABOUT THE NCAA’s GRADUATION SUCCESS RATE:
The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) is designed to show the proportion of student-athletes on any given team who earn a college degree. The NCAA has imposed a new set of academic standards that seeks to hold teams and institutions accountable for how well a student-athlete progresses toward a degree.The GSR was developed in response to colleges and universities who asked for an alternative rate that more accurately reflects the movement among college student-athletes. The GSR takes into account incoming transfers who graduate from a different institution than the one they started at and transfers who leave an institution in good standing.
