DubLife.net is doing a Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history. Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

8 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS

The number 8 signifies the amount of consecutive wins that the 1960 Washington Huskies Football Team accomplished to finish out their season.

After losing 15-14 to Navy earlier in the season, the 1960 Huskies didn’t lose another game and finished the season with a 10-1 overall record.

The #6 Huskies capped their season finale with an upset win at the 1961 Rose Bowl against the #1 Minnesota Gophers 17-7.

With that win, the Washington Huskies were crowned National Champions by the Helms Poll and finished the season ranked #1 in the nation.
