“The 25 Days Of Husky Christmas” – 8 Days ‘Til

Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

The number 8 represents the jersey number of Husky Legend Napoleon Kaufman, who is the most “electric” running back in Washington Huskies history.

Kaufman held the school rushing record for over 23 straight years and back in 2004 he was elected into the Husky Hall of Fame.

He set the Husky single-season rushing record in 1993 with 1,299 yards and bettered it as a senior with 1,390 yards.

Kaufman also rushed 1,045 yards as a sophomore to stand as the only UW player to have three 1,000-yard seasons in a career.

Napoleon became just the fifth back in Pac-10 history to piece together three consecutive 1000-yard rushing seasons and he was only the 40th rusher in NCAA history to eclipse the 4,000-yard mark in a career.

Kaufman was a three-time All-Pac-10 pick and a second-team All-American as a senior.  The tape job around the outside of his cleats was iconic.
