7 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS
The number 7 represents the number of appearances that the Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball program has reached the “Sweet Sixteen.”
During the 1951 season, the Washington Huskies achieved their first “Sweet Sixteen” appearance in school history, under head coach Tippy Dye.
They defeated Texas A&M by a score of 62-40, which allowed them to advance into the “Elite Eight,” before falling 61-57 to #2 Oklahoma A&M.
Most recently, the Huskies achieved an appearance in the “Sweet Sixteen” back in 2010, under head coach Lorenzo Romar.
While facing the #6 West Virginia Mountaineers, who were seeded #2 in the East Regional, the Huskies lost 69-56, ending their run through the dance.
