Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

 

4 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS

The number 4 represents the number of appearances that the Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball program has reached the “Elite Eight.”

During the 1942-43 season, the Washington Huskies achieved their first “Elite Eight” appearance in school history, under head coach Hec Edmundson.

They were defeated by Texas 59-55, in the Quarterfinal (West Semifinal), before ending their season with a 48-43 loss to Oklahoma in the consolation game.

Most recently, the Huskies achieved an appearance in the “Elite Eight” back in 1953, under head coach Tippy Dye.

While facing the #5 Kansas Jayhawks in the semifinal, the defending champs defeated the Washington Huskies 79-53 in Kansas City, Missouri.
