“The 25 Days Of Husky Christmas” – 25 Days ‘Til

Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

25 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS

The number 25 signifies the jersey number of defensive back Curtis Williams from the 2000 Washington Huskies Football team and his inspiring moment.

Williams had suffered a life altering injury during a game at Stanford and was left paralyzed from the neck down afterwards.

While the Huskies were competing in the 2001 Rose Bowl game, Williams attended the game in his wheel chair in an emotional moment.

Before the game, Williams met with teammates in the locker room and he was named the fourth captain of the game.  Players gestured to the press box during the game where Williams was sitting with his family!

His presence and inspiration propelled the Huskies to a 34-24 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers, while they wore his initials on their jerseys.
