Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..
“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history. Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.
21 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS
The number 21 represents the jersey number of free safety Shane Pahukoa of the 1991 Washington Huskies National Championship team.
What stood out about Pahukoa is how intimidating he was to opposing players, with the physicality he played with every single game.
During his senior season, he played with a cast on his hand the entire year and still finished as one of the top tacklers on the team with 58 total.
Pahukoa’s trademark and signature visual was his jersey that was cut towards the bottom, which showcased his abs and stomach.
As co-captain of the Husky defense, Pahukoa was voted a second team All-American by College and Pro Football Newsday. The attitude and impact he brought to the Husky defense was a major reason for their dominant success!
