“The 25 Days Of Husky Christmas” – 20 Days ‘Til

Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

20 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS

The number 20 represents the twentieth year of the 19th century, when Husky Stadium was initially built at the University of Washington.

The original stadium was built 99 years ago in 1920 by the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company at a capacity of 30,000.

Originally, Washington Husky Football was played across campus at Denny Field from 1895 until 1920 until Husky Stadium was built.

At the time of the construction, the name of the football team on campus was called the Washington Sun Dodgers Football Team.

In it’s first game at the new Husky Stadium, the Washington Sun Dodgers lost to Dartmouth 28-7 to conclude the 1920 season.
