“The 25 Days Of Husky Christmas” – 2 Days ‘Til

Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

The number 2 represents the number of Pac-12 Coach of The Year Awards that Washington head coach Mike Hopkins has earned.

In his first season at the helm, Hopkins engineered one of the biggest turnarounds in college basketball by finishing 21-13.

During the previous season for the Huskies, under head coach Lorenzo Romar, the Huskies went 9-22 (2-16) and missed the NCAA Tournament.

The 2017-2018 season was Hopkins first season. He provided a jolt of energy back into a program that was lifeless and needed a rescue.

Last season, Hopkins returned Washington back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, and finished 27-9 (15-3).

For his effort, Hopkins was awarded a second back-to-back Pac-12 Coach of The Year Award.  He became the sixth coach to win at least a share of the award in back-to-back seasons and the fourth coach to win the title outright back-to-back.

Hopkins became the first league coach to win the honor in his first two seasons of coaching.
