Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..
“DubLife” is doing its third consecutive season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments in Husky Athletics history. Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection are at the forefront of our minds. This year’s version will feature 25 random and exciting moments, in no particular order or ranking of importance.
16 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS
The 2017-18 Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball team stunned the #9 Arizona Wildcats 78-75 in front of a sold-out crowd at Alaska Airlines Arena.
With the game tied at 75-75, Washington head coach Mike Hopkins called a clear-out play for guard Jaylen Nowell, but it was quickly blocked by Arizona center DeAndre Ayton.
The rejected shot landed in the hands of forward Dominic Green who quickly hoisted a three-pointer, as he fell to the floor in front of the Husky bench.
Green’s shot would splash into the bottom of the net, and hundreds of the sold-out crowd rushed onto the court. It was the first time that Husky fans rushed the court since March 7, 2009.
“I’ve always thought about. When is the day that I’m going to be able to hit a game-winning shot like that,” said Green. “And today it happened. My dream came true.”
