Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..
“DubLife” is doing its third consecutive season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments in Husky Athletics history. Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection are at the forefront of our minds. This year’s version will feature 25 random and exciting moments, in no particular order or ranking of importance.
13 DAYS ‘TIL CHRISTMAS
#18 Washington was pitted against #12 NC State at Hec Edmundson Pavilion and the Huskies were off to their best start in seven years at 8-1.
It also was one of the school’s biggest non-conference games ever, and the arena was packed to the rafters long before tipoff.
Roy got a huge cheer when he checked in late in the first half. He wasn’t expected back on the floor for another week at best after tearing a knee ligament in the Great Alaska Shootout semifinals.
“Coming out and hearing the fans yelling, I said to myself, I’ve got to play in this one,” Roy said. “They helped make my knee feel better.”
Roy had a huge basket late when he caught a rebound in midair, off a missed 10-footer by Simmons, and slammed it home. It got the crowd energized and he finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block in 18 minutes, which spearheaded the Huskies to victory.
