“The 25 Days Of Husky Christmas” – 10 Days ‘Til

Counting down “The 25 Days of Husky Christmas”…..

“DubLife” is doing its second season of the annual Holiday countdown to Christmas highlighting special moments and statistics in Husky Athletics history.  Our segment is meant to bring positive thoughts of our favorite university during a time of the year where thanks and reflection is at the forefront of our minds.

The number 10 represents the number of points the Washington Huskies held the Washington State Cougars to in the 1981 Apple Cup.

Coming into the contest, the Cougars were ranked #14 in the nation, while the Huskies were ranked at #17, with a lot riding on the game.

It was billed as the biggest game in the Apple Cup series since the game back in 1936, where the winner was awarded a berth into the Rose Bowl.

Washington’s defense was ranked at the top of the conference at the time and held the Cougars scoreless, after the first drive of the second half.

With USC’s upset victory over UCLA later that day, the #12 Huskies earned a berth into the Rose Bowl and defeated the #13 Iowa Hawkeyes 28-0 to cap a 10-2 season.
