Washington finished the 2022 season with an 11-2 record, marking just the 5th time in school history that the Huskies have reached 11 wins. Kalen DeBoer is the first UW head coach to win a bowl game in his first season. Never before had UW won more than 8 games under a first-year head coach.
"It is clear that Kalen is such an amazing fit at the University of Washington," said Director of Athletics, Jen Cohen. "He has come in and made an incredible impact in every aspect of the program, our department, the University and the Seattle community. Kalen is an elite competitor who approaches each and every situation with the utmost class and integrity. We couldn't be more excited that he and his family will be on Montlake for the foreseeable future leading these tremendous young men in our football program."
“That’s the best throw i’ve seen Mike make in a game!” Grubb said about QB Michael Penix Jr.’s sideline TD pass to WR Taj Davis.
Earlier this season, DeBoer was named The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week when Washington took down then No. 11 Michigan State 39-28 for their first win over a ranked Power Five nonconference opponent at home since 2001.
The Huskies head man along with some of his players, met with the media to discuss their 24-21 victory against the #23 Oregon State Beavers at Husky Stadium.
