The Huskies were limited to 37.3 percent shooting (22 of 59) while the Wolf Pack made 45.3 percent of their attempts (24 of 53). Nevada outrebounded Washington 44-25.
Washington led 42-32 at halftime, then the Jackrabbits closed to within four points with eight minutes to go. Brown scored the next seven Washington points and the Huskies led 72-64. The lead reached 10 when Jamal Bey hit a 3-pointer with 3:29 left. Brown hit two free throws for an 82-70 lead and the Huskies led by double-digits the rest of the way.
Terrell Brown Jr. scored 21 of his 30 points in the second half and overtime for Washington (2-2), but it wasn't enough as Wyoming prevailed, 77-72, to escape Alaska Airlines Arena with a win over a Pac-12 squad.
Matthews scored 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and nearly missed a double-double, pulling down nine rebounds. It was the third 20-point effort in 94 collegiate appearances – 92 of which came at West Virginia – and his first since Mar. 25, 2019 vs. Coastal Carolina.
Washington held a 29-17 halftime advantage and turned up its defensive pressure to create multiple turnovers and easy bucket to run away from the visiting Wildcats.
