McDaniels is a local hoops star from Federal Way High School, who came to the University of Washington with high expectations and hype.
The star from Rochester, New York achieved numerous awards including All-Pac-12 First Team, Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District IX team as well.
The Rochester, N.Y., native set the UW freshman record for blocks (66) and rebounds (281) while also becoming the 40th player in UW history to reach 500 points in a season. His 543 points were the fifth-most by a Washington freshman as well.
The story of the game for the Huskies were the 19 turnovers that stunted their rhythm and consistency, and ultimately sealed their fate.
Today’s game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks, and the Huskies will need to find a way to beat the same opponent for the second time, in less than 5 days.
