SEATTLE – University of Washington freshman Isaiah Stewart has been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, the organization announced on Wednesday. He is one of three players from the Pac-12 to earn a spot on the Midseason list, joining Payton Pritchard (Oregon) and Tres Tinkle (Oregon State).
The newcomer from Rochester, N.Y. is already on the watch list for the Naismith Kareem Abdul-Jabaar Award, the NABC Player of the Year Award and the Citizen Naismith Award this season.
He has yet to score less than 12 points in a game and has been consistent in his game, averaging 19.5 points and 9.1 rebounds over his first 15 games. He is the nation’s leading freshman scorer and has posted eight double-doubles alongside four 20-10 double-doubles on the year, which is more than what Zion Williamson, last year’s winner, recorded over his first 15 games.
Stewart has also been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week four times this season.
Washington heads to the Bay Area to take on Stanford on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. (FS1) and then faces California on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks).
