Huskies Sign Four-Star Guards RaeQuan Battle and Marcus Tsohonis

The Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball team received some good news when they were able to sign a couple of talented shooting guards to the roster.

Guards RaeQuan Battle and Marcus Tsohonis signed their letters of intent yesterday much to the joy of head coach Mike Hopkins.

“We’re really excited to add RaeQuan and Marcus to the UW program. They’re both Pacific Northwest guys that have had excellent high school careers up to now. They’re both proven winners and each bring a unique skill set to our program. They are the right fit for what we are looking for on and off the court and we couldn’t be more excited to have them joining our family.”  Head coach Mike Hopkins said.

Battle is a 6-foot-4 guard who hails from local Marysville Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington.

During his junior season, Battle averaged 21.4 points and 8.0 rebounds and has really developed into complete basketball player.

Battle is considered a top-five player in the state of Washington at #4 and is currently ranked on the ESPN Top 100 list at #93.

“RaeQuan brings an exciting level of talent to our program and is one of the best shooters in the country,” said Hopkins. “He’s explosive athletically, his shooting ability will add a level of depth to our team and we can’t wait to have his skill set here at UW.”

Tsohonis plays at Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon and was named the Oregon State 6-A Player of the year last season.

He averaged 24.1 points, 7.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game last season and was rated by ESPN as the number one recruit in the state of Oregon.

“Marcus is a high level combo guard with a great leadership ability and is one of the best passers that we’ve seen,” said Hopkins. “He will be able to help us take our program to the next level with his leadership. He played on a very talented team in Oregon and shined there so we’re excited he is bringing his game to Montlake.”

Battle and Tsohonis both played AAU basketball together over the summer with Seattle Rotary and developed a good chemistry along the way.

The Huskies 2019 Recruiting class efforts is off to a tremendous start with these two new additions, and overall the Huskies are expected to sign an elite class.

Both players will add tremendous athleticism and skill to the guard position, and their shooting ability is something that the Husky coaches will surely welcome to the team.
