Huskies Left Tackle Trey Adams Plans On Returning For A Fifth Season

Yesterday, Husky fans received a bit of hopeful and encouraging news about one of their most beloved players.  During his weekly Monday press conference, head coach Chris Petersen announced that senior left tackle Trey Adams plans on returning next year for a fifth season in 2019.

“I think that’s the plan right now,” Petersen said. “But, you know, things are always fluid.”

Last season against Arizona State, Adams suffered an ACL tear injury in warm ups that sidelined him the rest of the season.

Earlier this year, during Fall Camp, Adams was working his way back into football shape and was trying his hardest to return for the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game against Auburn.

He suffered a setback towards the end of camp which required him to have back surgery.  Adams has been the source of speculation as of late with many wondering if he would return at the end of this season.

Prior to Adams injury last season, quarterback Jake Browning was playing some of the best football of his career. Many analysts believe Browning’s level of play regressed once Adams went down as the two of them have a tremendous chemistry together.

It’s no secret that the entire Husky offense hasn’t been the same since #72 went down to injury, as Adams is regarded as one of the top left tackle prospects in the nation.

Adams was a first team All-Pac-12 selection back in 2016 and was named to the All-America Second team that season by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

His NFL Draft stock continued to soar after the 2016 season and some had him as high as a top-15 pick in the draft.  By coming back for a fifth season, Adams will have the opportunity to increase is draft stock again after all of his injuries the past couple of years.
