The Washington Huskies Football coaching staff received some great news with the addition of an elite running back from the “Lone Star State” in Texas.
Earlier this morning, wide receiver prospect Emeka Megwa announced his commitment to the University of Washington via a message he posted on Twitter.
Megwa plays at Timber Creek High School in Keller, Texas and the Husky coaching staff continues to find elite running backs from Texas. He will join current Husky running backs Jay’Veon Sunday and Caleb Berry who are also from the state of Texas. At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Megwa is a bulkier back with swift feet and great hands.
Megwa is ranked by 247Sports as a four-star recruit and the #24 overall athlete prospect in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class. He is also the #43 overall rated prospect in the state of Texas.
Last year, during his junior season, Megwa gained 730 yards on 5.5 yards per carry, and 12 touchdowns in 9 games last season. He also added 113 yards receiving and two additional touchdowns.
Washington beat out some big-time suitors for Megwa. He originally had offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, USC, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, and more before choosing Washington.
With the commitment from Megwa, Washington now has seven committed players for the 2022 recruiting class. Megwa is the first running back in this class so far.
Washington commits Germie Bernard (WR), Chance Bogan (TE), Jackson Stratton (QB), Parker Brailsford (OL), Vega Ioane (OL), Ben Roberts, and Emeka Megwa are all headed to Montlake. Bernard, Roberts, and Megwa are all four-star commits in the fold for this recruiting class so far.
