The Washington Huskies Football family received more great news when one of their linebackers was selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Former Husky outside linebacker Joe Tryon was selected as the #32nd overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the first Husky player selected.
He was drafted at the #32 pick in the 1st round and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be getting a player who is relentless and has a high motor off the edge.
Tryon, opted out of his final two seasons at Washington after the pandemic hit and declared for the NFL Draft. He has been training hard and getting ready for this moment for several months.
During his college career, Tryon had career starts in both of his years with the Huskies and before opting out his final season at UW, he was named an All-Pac-12 First Team selection, and named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-America first team. He was also named to the preseason second-team by The Sporting News before opting out last season. Tryon finished his college career at Washington with 61 total tackles, 14.5 tackles-for-loss, and 9 sacks in 25 games played.
Tryon is from Renton, Washington where he played his high school ball at Hazen High School before joining the Washington Huskies.
Saved the best for last.
