BREAKING: Jacob Eason Drafted By The Colts In the 4th Round

Heading into the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Washington Huskies had not notched a single player being selected in the first three rounds.

As Saturday morning marked the beginning of rounds 4-7, the first domino fell off the board for the Huskies in the middle of the 4th round.

Former Washington quarterback Jacob Eason was taken as the #122 overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.

With his pick, Eason was selected as the #16 pick in the 4th round after getting an NFL Draft evaluation of going in the mid-second round somewhere.

According to his NFL Draft Profile, draft analyst Lance Zierlein writes Eason is a “strapping pocket-passer prototype” who has the “arm strength to challenge the secondary anywhere on the field.”

“Has frame and arm strength to excite evaluators,” Zierlein writes. “Can step and rip it between two levels of defenders.  Deep-ball accuracy on play-action shots.”

The local kid and hometown star from Lake Stevens, Washington chose the Georgia Bulldogs over Washington when he was at Lake Stevens High School.

Eason, a fourth-year junior from Lake Stevens, Wash., started all 13 games for the Huskies in 2019, throwing for 3,132 yards and 23 touchdowns on 260-of-405 passing (64.2 percent). His yardage total was fourth-highest in UW history, while his 23 TD passes ranked sixth. He also had top-10 marks in completions (third), completion percentage (seventh) and passing efficiency (seventh).

At Indianapolis, Eason will join a talented quarterback room which has Jacoby Brissett, Chad Kelly and Philip Rivers competing for the starting job.
