As widely expected, talented star Husky true freshman Isaiah Stewart announced his decision via twitter to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft.
During his freshman season, Stewart averaged 17.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He recorded 14 double-doubles and five 20-point/10-rebound games this past season.
Stewart also set the UW freshman record for blocks at 66 and also at rebounds with 281 total. He scored a total of 543 points on the season which rankled as the fifth most by a Washington Husky freshman.
The star from Rochester, New York achieved numerous awards including All-Pac-12 First Team, Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District IX team as well.
“Isaiah exemplifies everything you want from a student athlete. He wears his heart on his sleeve, in the way he plays, how he interacts with the community, our fans and everyone he comes into contact with. As a coach, you want to see your players dreams come true. His dream of playing in the NBA is becoming a reality. I’m so proud of him. He is a special kid and I was honored to coach him. He’ll be a part of the Husky family forever,” Washington head coach Mike Hopkins said.
