BREAKING: Graduate Transfer Quarterback Patrick O’Brien Commits To Washington

The Washington Huskies Football coaching staff addressed the immediate need to add depth to the quarterback position after the recent departures of Jacob Sirmon, Ethan Garbers, and Kevin Thomson.

Graduate transfer quarterback Patrick O’Brien from Colorado State University will play his final year of eligibility for the Washington Huskies via a Twitter announcement this morning.

O’Brien is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound redshirt senior who was originally a 4-star prospect who committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers out of high school.  His offer sheet included Texas Tech, Colorado, Colorado State, and UNLV.

He earned the starting job for the Rams in 2019 where he ended up with 2,803 yards and 13 touchdowns.  This past season (2020), O’Brien threw for 591 yards and 3 touchdowns while starting in 3 of those games.

O’Brien will enroll at Washington for the winter quarter and be eligible to play immediately.
