The Washington Huskies Football coaching staff received some great news with the addition of an elite defensive lineman headed to Montlake from a familiar pipeline.
Over this past weekend, defensive line prospect Ben Roberts announced his commitment to the University of Washington via a message he posted on Twitter.
Roberts plays at East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah which is the same high school that current Husky defensive players, Voi Tunuufi, Jordan Lolohea, and Sam Taimani are from. At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, he is projected to be an interior lineman at the collegiate level.
Roberts is ranked by 247Sports as a four-star recruit and the #37 overall defensive lineman prospect in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class. He is also the #2 overall rated prospect in the state of Utah.
Last year, during his junior season, Roberts notched 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 1 interception in 11 games.
He originally had offers from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Nebraska, Washington State, Baylor, Colorado, Oregon State, TCU, and more before choosing Washington.
With the commitment from Roberts, Washington now has six committed players for the 2022 recruiting class. Roberts is the third offensive lineman in this class so far.
Washington commits Germie Bernard (WR), Chance Bogan (TE), Jackson Stratton (QB), Parker Brailsford (OL), Vega Ioane (OL), and Ben Roberts are all headed to Montlake. Bernard and Roberts are both four-star commits in the fold for this recruiting class so far.
