BREAKING: Former Garfield High School Standout Daejon Davis Transfers To Washington

The Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball coaching staff continues to haul some impressive talent as they continue the massive offseason overhaul of their roster.

Earlier this morning, former local Garfield High School standout Daejon Davis announced his commitment to the University of Washington via a message he posted on Twitter.

Davis comes to Montlake after a four-year college stint at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. The Huskies coaching staff will definitely welcome his experience, poise, and knowledge of the Pac-12 landscape, in running the offense and bringing a calmness out on the floor.

At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, Davis is known as an all-around floor general who knows how to run the offense and is like having another coach on the floor. He is also known as an on-the-ball lockdown defender. While at Stanford, he averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 13 games last season. Davis earned a Communications degree at Stanford and will have one full year of eligibility to play for the Washington Huskies, after taking advantage of the extra year due to the NCAA Covid-19 pandemic rule for eligibility.

Davis was ranked a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He was rated the #50 overall player in the nation, the #3 best player in the state of Washington, and also the #3 ranked combo-guard in the country.

He had offers from Arizona, Oregon, Stanford, and Washington during his senior year of high school and interest from Gonzaga. He committed twice to the Washington Huskies, before changing course and choosing the Cardinal after the coaching change that brought Mike Hopkins to Washington.

The Huskies have made massive changes to their roster, including players and the coaching staff since the end of last season. This past week, the University of Washington announced the official additions of Terrell Brown Jr., Emmitt Matthews Jr., and Samuel Ariyibi. Top JUCO Power forward Langston Wilson also committed to Washington during that time span.
