BREAKING: Erik Stevenson’s Waiver Approved By NCAA For 2020-21 Season

SEATTLE – University of Washington junior transfer Erik Stevenson’s waiver to become eligible immediately has been approved by the NCAA, head coach Mike Hopkins announced Thursday.

“We’re very excited that Erik will be able to compete this year and while we’re still waiting on news from Cole Bajema’s waiver, we believe we’ll have good news coming from that soon,” said Hopkins. “Erik is a local guy who has a high-level work ethic and his impact on our program will be seen immediately.”

Stevenson joins the Huskies after spending two years at Wichita State. The guard was the Shockers’ second-leading scorer a year ago after averaging 11.1 ppg and 4.7 rebounds while totaling a team-high 47 steals after starting in 21 of 31 games played. He was a two-time AAC Player of the Week and shot 30.4 percent from 3-point range. Played high school ball at Timberline in Lacey, Wash., Stevenson was the WIAA Class 3A Tournament MVP after breaking the state tournament record with 118 points in four games, averaging 29.5. He owns Timberline’s career scoring mark (1,861 points) which is also a Thurston County Record.

The Huskies are still waiting on the NCAA’s decision on Michigan sophomore transfer Cole Bajema.
