The Washington Huskies Football coaching staff received some great news with the addition of an outside linebacker prospect from down in the desert.
Earlier this afternoon, outside linebacker prospect Lance Holtzclaw announced his commitment to the University of Washington via a message he posted on Twitter.
Holtzclaw plays at Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Arizona and the Husky coaching staff was able to impress him during his official visit to Montlake two weeks ago. At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Holtzclaw is a raw prospect with all the physical attributes to become an elite edge player at Washington.
Holtzclaw is ranked by 247Sports Composite as a three-star recruit and the #29 overall edge rusher prospect in the nation for the 2022 recruiting class. He is also the #8 overall rated prospect in the state of Arizona.
Last year, during his junior season, Holtzclaw notched 27 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 18 hurries, and 2 sacks in 6 games last season. He also added 186 yards on 13 catches as a wide receiver.
Holtzclaw originally had offers from Kansas State, Michigan, Colorado, Arizona, Air Force, Iowa State, San Diego State, and Oregon State amongst others before choosing Washington.
With the commitment from Holtzclaw, Washington now has eight committed players for the 2022 recruiting class. Holtzclaw is the second commit in this class so far from the state of Arizona.
Washington commits Germie Bernard (WR), Chance Bogan (TE), Jackson Stratton (QB), Parker Brailsford (OL), Vega Ioane (OL), Ben Roberts, Emeka Megwa (RB), and Lance Holtzclaw are all headed to Montlake. Bernard, Roberts, and Megwa are all four-star commits in the fold for this recruiting class so far.
