The Washington Huskies Football family received more great news when one of their defensive linemen was selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Former Husky defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike was selected as the #41st overall pick by the Detroit Lions as the first Husky lineman selected.
He was drafted at the #9 pick in the 2nd round and the Detroit Lions will be getting a player with tremendous power and upside.
Onwuzurike opted out of his senior season at Washington after the pandemic hit and declared for the NFL Draft. He has been training hard and getting ready for this moment for several months.
During his college career, Onwuzurike had career starts in 2 out of his 3 years with the Huskies and In his final season at UW, he was named an All-Pac-12 First Team selection. He was named to the preseason All-America first team by Athlon Sports and to the second team by Walter Camp before opting out last season. Onwuzurike finished his college career at Washington with 95 total tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, and 7 sacks in 39 games played.
Onwuzurike is from Allen, Texas where he played his high school ball at Allen High School before joining the Washington Huskies.
