BREAKING: Cole Bajema’s Waiver Approved By NCAA

Per the University of Washington Press Release…..

SEATTLE – University of Washington sophomore transfer Cole Bajema’s waiver to become eligible immediately has been approved by the NCAA, head coach Mike Hopkins announced Wednesday.

“We are thrilled that Cole’s waiver was approved and that he is now able to play immediately this season,” said Hopkins. “Cole is an extremely hard worker that is highly skilled. He has great size and elevates everyone around him on and off the court. He’s another local guy that is a great addition to our program and we’re excited to see him in the purple and gold.”

The 6-7 guard who hails from Washington state, has many athletic ties in his family as his sister Kara was an All-American for the UW volleyball team and graduated this past year. His mother was a collegiate basketball player and his other sister, Coryn, played collegiate soccer at the University of South Carolina.

In high school, Bajema was the Associated Press Class 1A Player of the year as a junior and senior at Lynden Christian. He was named All-State by many organizations and was on the Washington 1A State All-Tournament Team three times along with being the MVP during the 2018 season. He helped his school to a 95-12 record while he was on varsity all four years and in his last two seasons, Lynden Christian went 52-2.

He holds the scoring record (1,876 points) for his high school and led Lynden to the 2018 1A WIAA State Championship title. During his time there, the school won three-straight regional titles and he averaged 24.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists as a senior.

Washington opens the 2020-21 season hosting Portland State on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m.
