BREAKING: Huskies Land Top-Five Recruit Isaiah Stewart

The Washington Huskies Men’s Basketball program received some huge news tonight on the recruiting trail when five-star recruit Isaiah Stewart chose Washington.

Stewart is a 6-foot-9 and 245 pound forward from Rochester, New York who built a solid relationship with Washington head coach Mike Hopkins since his sophomore year of high school.

“Me and Coach Hopkins go way back from when I was a freshman,.  I’m a big relationship guy and relationships played a major role in my recruitment. He’s a coach that I trust to push me hard and help me accomplish my goals.”  Stewart said.

What is impressive is the major basketball programs that the Huskies beat out for Stewart’s commitment.  In the end, Stewart chose Washington over Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky and Syracuse.

Not only is Stewart a five-star recruit but he is rated the #5 overall recruit in the entire nation which is a major score for the Husky Men’s Basketball program.

Stewart is likely to be a one-and-done at Washington as he is projected to be a top-ten pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Even though Stewart is from Rochester, New York, he played his final season of prep basketball at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana.

During this past year, Stewart averaged 18.0 points and 11.1 rebounds for the Albany City Rocks on the Nike EYBL circuit.  He shot 57.0 percent from the field and was a dominating force.

Next season, the Huskies will look to showcase two prior 5-star recruits in their starting lineup in forward Isaiah Stewart and Kentucky point guard transfer Quade Green.
